About Us
Our History
D & D Electric started in 1977 as a partnership of Don McKay & the late David Turnbull. They worked together for several years for a Woodstock firm that produced auto parts and pipe. They learned many valuable industrial maintenance skills there before moving out on their own working for many industrial firms doing maintenance and machine installation along with plant additions. The untimely passing of Mr. Turnbull in 1982 left the business to be purchased and operated by Mr. Don McKay. In 1983, a corporation was formed and Don & Carol McKay now own D&D Electric Ltd.
With the addition of staff and the involvement of more family members, D & D Electric grew and began to expand into the construction industry. Specializing in PLCs and controls then, by 1990 the company grew to a dozen people and started looking into renewable energy. In 2003, D & D Electric started renewable installations and continued to expand into water and waste management, concentrating on Variable-Frequency Drives as a conservation and energy management tool.
Our Community
D & D Electric is involved in and around the local community sponsoring local baseball, hockey, service groups and community events. We helped support the Tavistock Juvenile 2019 OMHA Champions!
Working with MSC Canada, D & D Electric has done mission work in other countries that involve electrical and solar installations. Back in 2005, a Hospital in Chittokoloki, Zambia Africa operated on only a few hours of electricity per day. Due to its remote location, it was a challenge to get Diesel fuel deliveries for the generator that provided their power. Over the years a Solar Panel System was installed that is able to provide power 24/7 and continues to grow and expand in scope. This year we installed a control panel to integrate water pumps in with this system.

You can find our home base in Tavistock. Our shop is able to provide us with the Tools, Equipment and Vehicles to take on any challenge. Stop by and say hello!
Our Future
D & D Electric is successful because of its people. Without the team, we would not be the company we are today. As we continue to grow our team D & D Electric plans to continue into the future expanding into the alternate energy field with an alliance with like-minded companies.
